If you drive, please read this.
Yesterday I was driving back from uni and I saw there was a seagull sitting in the middle of the road. I was able to drive right up to it and didn’t move so I drove around it realizing that it was obviously hurt. So, I pulled up and got out with the view to pick it up and take it to the vet. As I got closer to it 4 inconsiderate people drove right over the animal, one after the other. Now, when I drove up to it I could see it’s eyes and could see it was clearly alive. These drivers, unless not paying attention whatsoever could clearly see the bird. When I saw it initially I was driving behind someone and even that didn’t obscure my view of it. I was so close to rescuing it when these people drove right over it, clearly not caring. I cant put into words just how angry and upset this made me; do these people not value the birds life? or are they not paying enough attention to the road?
Following this, as I was driving to uni this morning there was a black cat lying at the side of the road; again, clearly had been hit. This is the second pet cat that has been hit on this road, as well as a pheasant and a few rabbits.
Both of my parents have been driving for over 30 years and have never hit a single animal, we have always lived in the country or near to it and frequently see animals on the road. So I don’t believe that there is any good reason to see animals being hit. Some people that I’ve heard say that it “came out of nowhere” or that they “couldn’t help it” or the animal “just didn’t move”. None of these are a reason to hit an animal. If you are a conscientious driver and are aware of speed limits etc then you should be able to drive safely without harming animals (or people).
Please, value animals lives by choosing to drive safely.
The lead singer of Paramore stocks essential oils for head-banging-induced tension, natural makeup for the stage, and organic perfume called Rock Star (obviously).
I did a quick interview with one of my fav lifestyle blogs! It was so cool for me to get to highlight some of my everyday, go-to, all-natural(!!!) beauty products… maybe a couple you’ve never tried before?
Important thing for me to note is that I finally got to talk very briefly about acne, which I’ve struggled with off and on since I was about 19. I discovered a lot of healthier, more natural products in my quest for clear skin… which completely changed the way I think about skincare/beauty products.
Now here’s another thing: I don’t kill myself over products that I love which are less than perfectly pure. In fact, I’ve been known to drop a dime on cheap-o mascaras and lipsticks in my day… (come ON, Target is my promised land!!!). But I do think that there is infinite value (both ethical and health-wise) in buying and using products which aren’t chemical-laden and instead are filled with healthy and pure ingredients. Investing in your long-term looks and feels is highly underrated. And just like I mentioned in this interview, it’s nice to know that when you’re buying yourself a product from a brand that’s not taking short cuts ingredient-wise, it’s gonna feel great to both your today self and your tomorrow self.
Anyway, that’s enough talk! Check out the short little interview for yourself and don’t forget to know that you’re very lovely.
This is a really good look at natural products on an amazing website! I love that Hayley mentions about long term wellness, not just how you look today! Perfect.
I was blessed to own this cat for little over a month; my auntie rescued her 5 years ago and gave her a wonderful life to roam the fields surrounding the farm. Unfortunately, at age 14, due to a developing tumour and other complications we had to say goodbye to Misty this morning. Absolutely gutted 💔
